Common Horsepower Sizes
Most single phase motor searches land on a specific size, so here's a quick way to jump straight there. We carry 2 HP, 3 HP, 5 HP, and 10 HP single phase motors in stock, along with fractional sizes down to a small fraction of a horsepower for light duty equipment.
Single phase motors do have a practical ceiling. Past around 10 to 15HP, the starting current gets harder to manage on standard household or light commercial wiring, which is why most higher horsepower equipment runs on three phase instead.
Single Phase or Three Phase?
If your building only has single phase power but the equipment you're running calls for three phase, a phase converter lets you use a three phase motor without rewiring the building. Voltage and Starting Components
Many motors here run on dual voltage, typically 115V or 230V, so double check your outlet or panel before ordering. If a motor won't start or hums without turning over, the issue is often a failed start capacitor, run capacitor, or centrifugal switch, all of which we stock as standalone parts.
